WHEN GOD'S WILL INTERRUPTS CONVENIENCE
13 JUN 2025
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season…” – 2 Timothy 4:2 (KJV) Also read: Luke 9:57–62; Matthew 21:28–31
Obedience to God is rarely convenient. It often interrupts our schedules, challenges our preferences, and demands more than we initially planned to give. Yet, this is where the essence of true ministry is revealed—not when it’s easy, but when it’s costly.
In Paul’s instruction to Timothy, he doesn’t say “preach when you feel ready” or “serve when the timing suits you.” He says to be instant—ready and responsive—in season and out of season. That means when it’s popular and when it’s not, when you feel prepared and when you don’t, when it fits your calendar and when it doesn’t.
Consider Jesus’ parable of the two sons in Matthew 21. One said “yes” and didn’t go; the other said “no” but later obeyed. It’s not your initial reaction that defines obedience—it’s what you actually do. Delayed obedience can be a form of disobedience. And sometimes, God will test your priorities through interruptions.
The truth is, some of the most powerful moments of impact happen not when you’re at your most rested or available—but when you’re willing to respond anyway. Ministry that costs nothing may change little. But service offered through inconvenience often carries a weight of eternal significance.
Reflection & Activation:
- What has God asked of you recently that you’ve postponed or ignored because it didn’t fit your schedule?
- Make a list of “convenience conditions” you’ve placed on your obedience. Bring them before God in prayer.
- Ask Him to make you sensitive and responsive to divine interruptions.
Declare:
“I choose to be instant—in season and out. My yes to God is not dictated by convenience, but by covenant.”
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve delayed obedience in the name of comfort or convenience. Teach me to live with open hands and a ready heart. Make me instant—eager and willing to respond when You call, no matter the cost or timing. Use me even in tiredness, stretch me beyond preference, and shape me through every interruption. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
