Acts 26:16–18“Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me… I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God…”

In a world that constantly pushes us to define purpose by ambition, position, or possessions, God calls us back to something more eternal—people. When Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus, He didn’t just give him a mission; He gave him a people. “I am sending you to them…” God’s call was not abstract—it had faces, names, and souls attached to it.

Purpose is not a platform. Purpose is a person—Jesus—and the people He sends you to. Your purpose cannot be detached from the relationships God has divinely planted around you. Your purpose is not simply what you do; it’s who you touch with what you do. It’s about the lives God uses you to reach, shape, and restore. Often, we’re tempted to overlook this truth. We chase significance while ignoring the very people God is asking us to serve. But God’s call is always deeply personal. Think of Moses and Israel, Esther and her people, Jesus and the disciples—purpose was never in isolation. It always involved people.

You are not just here to “do life.” You’re sent to someone. Your words, your counsel, your prayers, your faithfulness—it could be the turning point for someone walking in darkness.

So pause and ask: Who has God sent me to? Your purpose unfolds as you open your eyes to see people the way Jesus sees them—not as problems, but as assignments; not as burdens, but as eternal investments.

You may be the only Bible someone reads. You may be the only light in someone’s darkness. And the way you treat them, care for them, or intercede for them is how you fulfill your purpose.

Practical Application:

  • Make a List: Write down the names of at least 5 people who are within your reach—family, friends, co-workers, classmates, neighbours. Then write one practical spiritual investment you can make in each of their lives this week (a prayer, an encouragement, a testimony, a Scripture, a helping hand).
  • Schedule Intentional Time: Set aside a moment this week to talk to or pray with someone you’ve neglected or overlooked spiritually. Be intentional about seeing them and being present.

Prayer: “Jesus, open my eyes to the people around me. Help me not to chase purpose in things, but to find it in loving people like You do. Send me to the ones who need hope, truth, and light. Give me the boldness to speak and the humility to serve.”
