DON'T DESPISE SMALL PLATFORMS

17 JUN 2025

Zechariah 4:10“Do not despise these small beginnings.”

The life of purpose is not only geographically relevant but is tied to people as well. The people you are called to serve in a place is what makes purpose meaningful. You are called to serve people and to meet the needs of people. This is what a life of service is all about. God’s call is always people-focused. Your eternal impact is tied to the lives God assigns you to—not to possessions, platforms, or positions. You therefore, must not despise the people or minimize the setting (e.g., children’s ministry, youth fellowships, campus ministry). The reason is simple, eternity remembers what was done for people, not what was built for self. “Don’t live for things—live for people. Things won’t be in heaven. People will.” While locations are important (God may call you to a specific city, church, nation), it is the people in those places that define your eternal relevance. Disregarding “small” people groups or “unimportant” platforms is a rejection of purpose. “When people are involved, God is concerned. No matter the age, status, or stage.”

God often starts with small, humble beginnings that grow into mighty movements. Waiting for bigger opportunities can make you miss God’s hand in your current role. Every faithful act—no matter how small—is significant in God’s eyes.

Sunday school teachers, small group leaders, and prayer warriors play crucial roles in building God’s kingdom. Faithfulness now is the pathway to greater influence later. Trust God’s timing and be faithful in the little.

Practical Application:

  • Identify a small area where you can serve faithfully.
  • Commit to excellence and joyfulness in that role, no matter how small it seems.

Prayer:

“Father, help me to be faithful in the small things. Use me where I am to bring glory to Your name.”
